16 February 2012 Bordeaux 2009 prices set to rise with in-bottle scores
Wine investors could be set to see a boost to the price of Bordeaux 2009 vintage as the critics release their tasting notes and scores.
James Suckling has published his in-bottle scores of the vintage, giving nine wines a perfect score.
All of the Bordeaux first growths were given 100 points, with the exception of Mouton Rothschild, which scored 98 points, the Liv-ex Fine Wine Exchange reported.
The wines receiving a final score of 100 were: Ausone; Haut Brion; Lafleur; Latour; Vieux Chateau Certan; Lafite Rothschild; Margaux; and super seconds Cos d'Estournel and Montrose.
In addition, 22 wines were given 98 points, including Malescot St Exupery, which could lead to good returns on wines outside the first growths.
According to Liv-ex, Robert Parker will publish his scores in the next issue of The Wine Advocate. He is expected to give strong scores to his 'Magical 20' showcased at last year's tasting event.
In a similar vein to Mr Parker, James Suckling praised the 2009s, calling it "the best modern vintage ever".
