3 February 2012 UK consumers 'embracing new wine tastes'
British consumers are expanding their taste for wines and looking for new trends in the market, it has been suggested.
Rachel O'Shea, marketing manager at drinks business Diageo, claimed that consumers are becoming more interested in lighter and sweeter wines and are in general becoming more interested in the wine they buy.
"Recent consumer research foresees Moscato being right on trend and offering an exciting new wine to consumers," she said.
"Both on and off trade is excited about Moscatos' rising popularity as requests are consistently and steadily rising."
She added that sales of the wine have grown in value in the US by two per cent.
While it has been reported that consumers in China are becoming more interested in wine and their knowledge of wine, Brits could also be looking towards improving their wine education.
"It's an exciting time for wine drinkers in the UK who are keen to experiment a little more with their wine choices and embrace new tastes," Ms O'Shea remarked.
