Opus One

We are pleased to offer Opus One 2012 at £875 In Bond per case of 6 bottles, which makes it the least expensive vintage on the market.

The release of Opus One every year is always exciting as it is such a popular wine globally. First produced in 1979 by Robert Mondavi and Baron Philippe de Rothschild, it has become perhaps the most well-known and popular Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine to come out of the Napa Valley.

The 2012 vintage has been generally lauded by all the major critics and Opus One has already been given 97 points by James Suckling and 96 points by Antonio Galloni. Robert Parker has not released his note on the 2012, but has this to say about the 2012 and 2013 vintages: 'Both vintages are clearly the two greatest years for North Coast Bordeaux varietals - and probably Chardonnay as well - since the wonderful duo of 2001 and 2002.' High praise indeed.

Please find below our offer. Allocations have been reduced this year so do please let us know as soon as possible if you would like some to avoid disappointment.

Opus One 2012, Napa Valley
£875 In Bond per case of 6 bottles

‘Glorious purity of fruit here with blackcurrants, blueberries, dark chocolate, fresh herbs and forest floor. Hints of mint. Full body, seamless tannins and wonderful balance. Tight and compacted tannins with beautiful fruit and great length. Hazelnut and chocolate. Goes on for minutes. One of the best Opus in years. Compacted and beautiful. Hard not to drink now but better in 2018. 97 points.’ James Suckling

‘Rich, powerful and seductive, the 2012 Opus One blossoms in the glass with superb textural richness and volume. Dark red and black fruit, smoke, cedar, new leather and tobacco all meld together as the 2012 shows off its personality. Fine, silky tannins support the huge, creamy finish. The 2012 has just been bottled, but it is superb. I expect the 2012 will offer a long and broad drinking window of pure pleasure. 96 points.’ Antonio Galloni

The wines will be available in November. Please note that delivery charges might apply if you would like the wines delivered to a non-warehouse address.

E&OE September 2015.

Best wishes,

Bordeaux 2014 - Haut Brion & Mission Haut Brion

Domaine Clarence Dillon have released today two of the star wines from 2014: Chateaux Haut Brion (£2320/case) & Mission Haut Brion (£1420/case). These were the last two wines we tried during our time in Bordeaux and what a send-off it was. The Haut Brion is supremely elegant with an incredibly long finish and the Mission Haut Brion showed its inimitable dark, spicy fruit on the nose but it is also made in a very elegant and focused style this year.

Bordeaux 2014 - Wines of Mouton Rothschild

We are pleased to offer today the wines from the Mouton Rothschild stable, including the Grand Vin itself. All the wines are made by the same team and quality is very high across the board.

We thought the Armailhac shows lovely fruit and balance and at £230 per case, represents good value. The Clerc Milon is also very good but considering the price of £320 per case, we think Armailhac is the better buy.

Marquis d'Angerville

In our opinion, Volnay is the finest red wine appellation in the Cote de Beaune and Marquis d'Angerville is the finest producer of Volnay. The domaine makes wines which somehow combine the ripe and rich dark fruits of the Cote de Beaune with the breed and finesse of the wines of the Cote de Nuits.
